Garden Open Day Sunday 3 March

If you fancy a fun visit to my new garden in Hunua, south of Auckland, now's your chance! Sweetgum Cottage & Garden is open to the public this weekend (March 2-3) from 11am-4pm, in support of our local native bird rescue charity, Hunua Bird Life. 

Take a stroll around the flower garden, check out the renovated colonial Kauri cottage, pat the cat, admire the wildflower hut, have a nosy inside the wee buildings we've built from salvaged materials, shop for vintage treasures and buy pickles, preserves, autographed books and Fiona Henderson's beautiful garden pottery. Eftpos is available.

I'll be doing talks in my organic no-dig vegetable garden each day at midday and 2pm, so learn how easy it is to grow your own food (too much usually!), from stock standard veg to heirloom herbs (you can scratch and sniff your way through my scented geraniums while you're here.) 

Park in the paddock and please be careful when turning off the main road into the garden as it's on a blind corner, next to the YMCA Camp Adair. Look for the event signs.

Everyone who comes gets to enjoy a free Devonshire tea in the Very Tall Small Hall on site, so please pre-purchase a ticket so I can bake enough scones!
